Toshiba Satellite Pro U400 Review
By business laptop
If you want a laptop that is somewhat customized for an average business use, Toshiba’s Satellite Pro U400 is a good option.
From the cover down to the bottom, it is durable and elegant at the same time. It has a plastic material coated in silver and black and has a scratch-free finishing. With the weight of 4.63lbs, you can’t have a problem carrying this fair-sized business laptop.
Its size is just ultimately perfect if you value portability that much. Its 13.3-inch screen can give you a well-detailed image at any angles except that a minor wash-off of sharpness and glow can be experienced when tilted downwards. The U400 has a 1280×800 standard resolution that can display a blazing color contrasts.
The functionality of the keyboard of U400 is well and good for its 12.4 inches x 8.86 inches x 1.57 inches (315 x 225 x 40mm) size. It is as if there were minimal adjustments to the keyboards thus making it more comfortable to punch in the keys compared to other small business laptops. The touchpad that comes beneath the keyboard is doing as good as well. The sensitivity is there. The essential mouse buttons are placed well. Everything seems to be doing fine with respect to the key engagements.
With its ports and jacks, as expected with this size of notebook, is but in a regular basis. The left side of the laptop is composed of VGA, 2 USB ports, FireWire, ExpressCard, headphone and microphone jacks. While on the right side, there’s an optical drive, another USB port, modem, LAN, and a Kensington Lock Slot. At the front, we can see the card reader, volume control knob, and the wireless switch. And at the back, it’s empty.
Now, about the U400’s battery life, this is where this notebook falls to its competitors. The life it can sustain can only be at around 3 hours. Not bad though for average office worker. But it could have been better if can stay a little bit longer.
However, in terms of reliability and performance, as we have mentioned above, it is a good option for average users. It has a 2GB of RAM that clocks in 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 processor. This business notebook can let you access without worrying about speed. And if you engage in multitasking, I think this 2GB of RAM is good enough for your multiple window banging. Plus, the 200GB hard disk can make you store a lot of digital pieces.
Meanwhile, we’ll take a look at the weaker side of this strong business notebook.
The audio performance is not good. Although we are expected to give an average rate for every audio quality a laptop can give, but the U400 seems to have lesser value. A headphone can always be helpful to this side of thing.
Anyway, all of the above features are packed under the price of $1,049.00. Fair enough or too expensive?
