    Toshiba Tecra R10 Review

    By business laptop

The Tecra R10 of Toshiba is said to be focused on its power than its build. But as I see it, it has both.

First, its build is a simple, yet striking, one. It has a slim figure that is designed for portability and to give comfort among its users. With a dimension of 13.3 x 9.9×1.1 inches and weighing at 4.3 pounds, these numbers are not bad when you consider carrying it around. Its body is built with strong materials to survive sudden impacts and anticipated short bumps while on travel. The outer layer is built with a combined plastic and aluminum while its base supports is made of metal. But, just like other business laptops, its toughness has its limits. It’s not a good substitute for baseball bats for one.

This business notebook is armed with silver coating including the key caps. But its keyboard layout is a little bit different because the shortcut keys are relocated to the left and could cause confusions especially to the speedy typists. On the other hand, the touchpad is quite well. But because of its small size and deep mouse buttons, some might prefer using an external mouse.

Above the keyboard is a 14.1-inch screen with LED-backlit display and a 1280×800-pixel resolution. Though this screen displays a fair view, a slight problem occurs when you start to view it from different angles vertically.

The connections of Tecra R10 is fairly enough from average to extreme users. On the left corner we can find the VGA, security lock slot, USB/eSATA port, microphone jack and the headphone jack. While on the opposite side, we can see the optical drive, ExpressCard slot, wireless switch, USB 2.0 port, Ethernet, and power jack. In front we have the lone SD card reader and at the back, you can see nothing.

The battery life of a notebook depends on the intensity of the usage. But this business laptop displays an endurance surpassing other laptops with the same battery cells. However, if you are doing many things at the same time, like listening to music while writing something and researching on the web while video chatting on your hot girlfriend can drain the battery after 3 hours. But if it is used in a normal mode, then it sure can last long.

This business notebook comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo P9300 processor. It also has an nVidia Quadro NVS 150M video card which contributes to the good display. And with a 2GB of DDR3 RAM, it sure is fast.

The Toshiba’s Tecra R10 has an excellent configuration and has an undeniable strong performance along with its striking frame and excellent portability. With a few setbacks like the unstable battery life and a deep-set mouse buttons, it’s a fair business laptop with a starting price of $1,399.00.
